Cooler convertible

Set 4993 was so good I bought it twice. A slightly chunky coupe with a sweet convertible action, opening doors and hood, but oh! what a disappointment in the engine bay. I decided to believe it was deliberate, this was Creator 3 in 1 after all, the designers leaving us space to join in and do better. And so I set off on another overly ambitious project 😂

The plan was simple. Fit a V8, steering and air suspension inside the Cool Convertible body, without buying any new parts. After a lot of experiments I gave up a bit frustrated. My 2×2 pneumatics were just too big.

A few years later I came back with relaxed goals. A stud wider? Sure. Poppin? Doesn’t suit this style of car anyway. But that supercharger? Has to be part of it! 5 weeks of fun fiddling and the Coolest Convertible was done. And a few weeks after that I did manage to fit the engine and steering inside the stock 4993. Maybe I could have bought some of the modern 1×1 footprint pneumatics but at this point I was done.
