Bessie Bentley

Algy and Ginger would always look back on those late summer days on Minerva, as their happiest. Strapped snuggly in behind Bessie’s 6 litres and out looking for adventure.

Steering was via the spare wheel and the 2 cylinder engine was powered from the real axle.

And when the day was done the old dear would pack snuggly away ready for loading onto the mothership.

I was really pleased how this one turned out. It’s inspired by this beast which is all sixes: 6 cylinders, 6 litres etc. A ridiculous exhilarating machine. Did they even have brakes in the 1920s? When one beat the other much Frencher racers yet again Mr Bugatti is quoted as saying “Mr Bently makes the world’s fastest lorries”. Meow.
I grew up with a model like it, made by my father, on my bookshelf.
